LeE HARVey OsMOND
Sunday, February 14th 2:00 P.M.

LeE HARVey OsMOND is the brainchild of Tom Wilson, from Blackie & the Rodeo Kings. Tom brought together an eclectic group of friends, a few Cowboy Junkies, and some Skydiggers, to develop a new sound they christened acid folk. With hypnotic rhythms and a lot of groove the group of friends now known as LeE HARVeY OsMOND, created a sound that comes creeping out of the Northern woods and is oozing across the Great Lakes into the South, following the same path The Band did forty years before.

A Quiet Evil, the first release by LeE HARVeY OsMOND. is produced by Michael Timmons (Cowboy Junkies) and includes performances by Tom Wilson, Margo Timmons, Michael Timmon, Colin Linden, Brent Titcomb . Whether performing as a stripped-down show by Tom Wilson and a friend or two, or with a full band that could include just about anyone on the Canadian music scene, LeE HARVeY OsMOND will take every audience member along with them on their hypnotic musical. With a dozen critically acclaimed albums to his credit, he has developed a strong national following in the indie folk/rock scene through his relentless touring. Starting his musical career in Milwaukee at Marquette University, he honed his performing skills while traveling in Ireland. He later spent several years in Boston where he frequently performed in the city's subway system. He is best known for his dark songwriting and his intense percussive guitar style. Garnet Rogers
Sunday, March 7th 2:00 P.M.

Garnet Rogers returns for his third concert at The University Cafe. Sing Out magazine hailed him as "the greatest interpreter and vocalist performing on the contemporary folk scene." Garnet set out on the road at age eighteen as a full-time working musician with his brother Stan Rogers, the Canadian folk legend. Establishing himself as a solo artist following his brother’s tragic death in 1983, Garnet has delivered performances centered on his extraordinary songs, his unsurpassed playing on a host of guitars, and his over the top humor and lightning-quick wit.

Add his name to the select list of the giants in the guitar world today and couple that with brilliant songs often centering on people who are not obvious heroes, and you have the makings of an outstanding afternoon of music. (www.garnetrogers.com)

Advance sale at www.universitycafe.org $20.00 until Wednesday, March 3rd with no service charge. Tickets at the door (if available) $25.00

Rachael Davis and Friends
Sunday, March 14th 2:00 P.M.

(presented in collaboration with the Greater Port Jefferson - Northern Brookhaven Arts Council)

Rachael Davis began singing on-stage at the age of two with her parents. Ten years into her solo career, she’s shared the stage with such musical luminaries as Taj Mahal, Fred Eaglesmith, Josh Ritter, Prairie Home Companion regulars Robin and Linda Williams, folk divas Claudia Schmidt and Sally Rogers, jazz legends Marcus Belgrave and Winston Walls, and many others. In 2003, she took grand prize in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s Troubadour Contest. Her influences range from the jazz stylings of Ella Fitzgerald to the soulful pop vocals of Patty Griffin. A contemporary songwriter, she’s equally at home singing anything from traditional ballads to Cole Porter to Joe Henry. (www.rachaeldavis.com)

Rachael played The University Cafe in April, 2005, during our first year of concerts and we are delighted to welcome her back.

Advance sale at www.universitycafe.org $15.00 until Wedensday, March 10th with no service charge. Tickets at the door (if available) $20.00

Mark Erelli
Sunday, March 28th 2:00 P.M.

Mark Erelli's visit to The University Cafe continues our tradition of inviting world-class guitarists and songwriters to perform on our stage. A wizard on the acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, and lap steel, Erelli has toured with Lori McKenna, Catie Curtis, Kris Delmhorst and Josh Ritter and would be known simply for his instrumental virtuosity were it not for the fact that he is an extraordinary songwriter, perhaps best known for his song "The Only Way," recorded by Ellis Paul and Vance Gilbert.

His seven CDs showcase a range of musical interests of Erelli, even including western swing on Hillbilly Pilgrim, but it is his songs of political and social commentary that have left their mark. According to the Washington Post, "Erelli addresses tough issues with the grit of John Hiatt and the melancholy beauty of Ron Sexsmith." (www.markerelli.com)

Advance sale at www.universitycafe.org $20.00 until Wednesday, March 24th with no service charge. Tickets at the door (if available) $25.00

Lynn Miles
Sunday, April 25th 7:00 P.M.

We are pleased to welcome back Lynn Miles, one of Canada's outstanding recording and performing artists. This Juno Award winning Ottawa-based singer-songwriter has consistently turned out critically-acclaimed albums since her emergence on the music scene in the 1990's. Miles delivers finely-crafted songs with strong, unique lyrics matched by one of the best voices on the music scene today, as well as a unique guitar-playing style.

Her most recent album, Love Sweet Love is a road album. Songs like "Night Drive", "Sweet and Tender Heart", "8 Hour Drive" and "Never Coming Back" trace the metaphorical journey of the human heart, sketching a roadmap of modern relationships and heartache.

According to the Gavin Report, ... if there is any justice left in the music business, Miles will be a star. Lynn is a talent writer and singer whose songs are filled with emotion and filled with rootsy, pop-edged stories that are radio-ready." (www.lynnmilesmusic.com)

Advance sale at www.universitycafe.org $20.00 until Wednesday, April 21st with no service charge. Tickets at the door (if available) $25.00

Bob Dylan's 69th Birthday Celebration with The Kennedys, Rod MacDonald, Russ Seeger, Rob Stein, Steve Sollog and others
Saturday, May 22nd 8:00 P.M.

The Cafe's annual benefit event and always a sell-out show.

This year, we'll be celebrating the 45th anniversary of the release of landmark Dylan albums Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited and the anniversary of Dylan "going electric" at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

Look for songs from those albums as well as from other parts of Dylan's catalogue.

Anchoring the evening’s celebration will be Pete and Maura Kennedy, who return for their fourth Dylan Birthday celebration at the Café. Guitars, sitars and even ukeleles come into play when The Kennedys "do Dylan." (www.kennedysmusic.com)

Rod MacDonald, one of America's finest singer-songwriters and an acknowledged master at interpreting Dylan, returns. Rod and his band Big Brass Bed have recorded an entire album of Dylan songs. (www.rodmacdonald.com)

Russ Seeger, of Levon Helm's Last Hombres, interprets lesser-known Dylan songs and adds great fiddle and guitar work to other Dylan classics in his fifth appearance at a Cafe Bob Dylan Birthday celebration. (www.myspace.com/russseegermusic)

Pedal-steel guitarist Rob Stein returns by popular demand and keyboard player Steve Sollog will round out the ensemble but who knows who else might appear?

Tickets limited to 100 seats and available from February 1st until we sell out for $30.00.
